1,000-Ton Containerized Potato Storage Facility with Dragon-M Microclimate Technology

Agrovent engineered and commissioned a 1,000-ton containerized potato storage chamber (36 × 15 m) featuring advanced ventilation, high-efficiency refrigeration, and full automation. The system provides long-term, stable storage conditions for potatoes, onions, and beets, ensuring minimal spoilage and maximum product quality - even in hot or variable climates across India, Africa, the Middle East, and the UAE.

Project Objectives

  • Design, manufacture, and install a complete ventilation and refrigeration system for containerized potato storage

  • Implement two independent climate zones within a single chamber

  • Meet an accelerated six-week production-to-launch timeline

  • Deliver custom-colored ventilation grilles tailored to the client’s branding

Storage Solution

Advanced Microclimate Technology

  • Dragon-M system for efficient cooling, uniform airflow, and a stable temperature–humidity field

  • Controlled removal of CO₂ and respiration by-products to prevent physiological disorders

  • Designed for high performance in warm and humid regions

Refrigeration & Airflow Systems

  • Refrigeration unit built on a Bitzer compressor, ensuring reliability and energy efficiency

  • Air preparation chamber positioned along the outer wall to optimize airflow

  • Intake valves supply fresh air; heaters, coolers, humidifiers, and recirculation valves stabilize the microclimate

Automation

  • Croptimiz-r controllers enable remote monitoring, analytics, and automated climate control

  • Full visibility of temperature, humidity, airflow and CO₂ levels across both zones

Results & Benefits

  • Long-Term Storage Stability
Significant reduction in losses and consistent product quality

  • Energy Efficiency
Optimized airflow and microclimate management reduce operating costs

  • Reliable Microclimate
Uniform temperature and humidity across the entire chamber

  • Fast Delivery
Complete execution—design, fabrication, installation, commissioning—within six weeks

Standards & Compliance

  • Designed in accordance with international agricultural storage and food-safety requirements

  • Fully compatible with remote-access and data-driven control frameworks

Implementation Stages

  1. Engineering and system design

  2. Procurement of materials and equipment

  3. Delivery and logistics

  4. Installation and assembly
