Development of a microclimate system for the bulk storage of “Innovator” potatoes (8000 tons) In 2018, our company started working on phase two with the same capacity.

Client

“Belaya Dacha Farming” LLC is a general partner of MacDonalds in Russia.

Objective

To preserve the marketability and weight of the potatoes from August to July.

To apply modern microclimate technologies with minimal drying impact.

Distinguishing features:

  • Sort: Innovator
  • While choosing the technology, all of the risks that are common for this sort were taken into consideration (such as problems with skin thickness).
  • Large-scale project
  • Phased installationv
  • Newly-built storage rooms were connected to the existing cooling system.

Solution

Air coolers were used for vegetable storage.

We used the Croptimiz-r specialized control system, which was designed for vegetable storage and allows for remote monitoring and control.

System for the online monitoring of changes to potato weight.

Evaporation-type humidification system without drop formation in the air, with the possibility of its isolation during the aeration of chambers.

Distinguishing features

Operational stages:

  • Project development
  • Purchase of equipment and materials
  • Delivery
  • Installation
  • Start-up and adjustment operations
  • Project launch

The construction department was in charge of the project, which included the involvement of company specialists in the area of ventilation and cooling equipment.

All of the operational stages were completed within a tight turnaround time. Work on the project began in May and finished in July, 2016.

Due to unstable weather conditions, the potatoes that were put in storage had a high incidence of physical damage, meaning a potential reduction in their total storage life. Thanks to Agrovent’s technology and specialized equipment, the potatoes stayed in storage until July.

In 2018, Agrovent has been busy implementing phase two of the microclimate system for the bulk storage of potatoes (8000 tons).
